About DHINX

An Idea That Began in 2015

What if people, organizations, places, things, and systems could all speak the same digital language?

This question gave rise to the idea of DHINX — the Digital Human Interaction Exchange — back in 2015. From the beginning, the vision went far beyond a single application: to create a universal digital model that represents the real world, its actors, and their relationships in a meaningful way — enabling entirely new forms of digital collaboration and interaction.

The name DHINX originated during this early phase, along with the idea of a universal “world catalog” built not around individual applications or isolated data models, but around the objects of the real world and the relationships between them.

Several attempts also revealed the scale of the challenge. Bringing together ontology, data modeling, processes, software architecture, and user experience required a level of development effort that was difficult to achieve with limited resources.

The emergence of a new generation of powerful AI models fundamentally changed that equation.

AI did not create the idea behind DHINX. It became the accelerator that made its realization possible.

Standing on the Shoulders of Great Ideas

The fundamental mechanisms behind DHINX were not invented from scratch. They build on concepts developed over decades across different disciplines.

A particular source of inspiration has been the work of Indian mathematician and librarian S. R. Ranganathan. With his Colon Classification in 1933, he introduced a faceted approach as an alternative to rigid classification systems: instead of encoding properties and perspectives in ever-growing predefined hierarchies, they can be modeled independently and combined according to context.

Rigid classification becomes composition.

The same principle later emerged in different forms: in faceted knowledge organization, in industrial classification models such as ETIM and eCl@ss, in semantic technologies such as RDF, SKOS, and OWL, in graph models, and in architectural principles from Data Warehousing and Data Vault.

Different disciplines, yet a remarkably similar underlying idea:

Create stable building blocks from which a complex and constantly changing world can be composed flexibly.

DHINX brings these principles together and extends them into a shared digital model.

From Data to Meaning

Our digital world does not suffer from a lack of data. Increasingly, it suffers from a lack of context and shared meaning.

A person, an organization, a product, a place, or a system does not exist in isolation. Meaning emerges through properties, relationships, context, space, and time.

This is where DHINX begins.

A shared ontology describes not only what something is, but also how it relates to other things and what those relationships mean within a specific context.

This creates a common semantic foundation that can be understood and used by people, applications, processes, and AI agents.

Ontology gives things meaning. Context makes meaning relevant. Interaction turns meaning into value.

One Core — Two Worlds

From this common foundation, DHINX has evolved in two distinct directions.

Both are built on the same underlying model — but serve different purposes.

DHINX — For a Joyful Life

DHINX Joyful Life brings the model into everyday life.

It is a community and social media platform that connects people with the people, organizations, places, information, offers, needs, and things around them.

It is not about creating yet another endless social feed. What matters is context: What is relevant to me here and now? Who or what is around me? What can I discover, offer, request, share, or do together with others?

DHINX connects social interaction with space, time, interests, and real-world opportunities.

Discover. Connect. Share. Offer. Request. Interact.

Technology moves into the background, supporting people where it creates meaningful value.

DHINX Enterprise

DHINX Enterprise applies the same ontological core to the enterprise.

It connects organizations, roles, information, systems, and end-to-end processes within a shared enterprise model.

Processes are no longer merely documented. They can be modeled systematically, connected across organizational boundaries, and carried through to operational execution.

Process knowledge becomes executable enterprise logic.

Automation handles recurring and deterministic tasks. AI supports analysis and decision-making. AI agents can increasingly act independently within clearly defined processes, roles, and rules.

This creates a path from traditional process modeling through automation to agent-supported and increasingly autonomous process execution.

One enterprise model. End-to-end processes. Governed execution. Towards autonomy.

Two Applications. One Architecture.

At first glance, a community platform and an enterprise solution could hardly seem more different.

Underneath, however, they address the same fundamental challenge:

How can digital systems understand the real world and derive relevant interactions and actions from it?

For DHINX Joyful Life, this means intelligently connecting people with the world around them.

For DHINX Enterprise, it means making organizations and their end-to-end processes understandable, manageable, and increasingly executable.

At the core of both is a universal ontology of entities, relationships, context, and interactions.

This is the fundamental idea behind DHINX:

One core model. Two ecosystems. From human interaction to enterprise execution.

Why Now?

The original vision emerged in 2015. The technological capabilities required to realize it at this scale came much later.

Modern AI models enabled me to take up the idea again and advance it significantly within approximately twelve months — from intensive research and conceptual development to ontology and architecture, data models, software, APIs, and user experience.

AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic have served as tools and sparring partners, significantly accelerating research, development, and iteration.

Today, DHINX has moved well beyond the concept and prototype stage and is approaching its first real-world field tests.

What was a vision for years has become a working system — ready to prove itself in real-world scenarios.

The Idea Behind DHINX

Technology should understand the world around people — instead of forcing people to understand the technology around them.

A shared model can help people discover and interact more meaningfully with the world around them.

The same model can help enterprises understand complex relationships and execute processes intelligently.

Two ecosystems. One semantic foundation.
